Dreams Become True

A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement. -Bo Bennett

Lea Salonga, daughter of Feliciano Genuino Salonga and  Ligaya Alcantara Imutan, was born on February 22, 1971. She spent her first 6 years in life at Angeles City then moved to Manila. O. B. Montessori Center was her school in Metro Manila. She also attended University of the Philippines College of Music's extension that trains musically talented pupils in music and stage movement. She studied her college at Ateneo de Manila University and Fordham University.
1987 at the age of 7, she was became the lead star, Annie, in the musical the King and I by the Repertory Philippines. Lea began her recording career at the age of ten with her first album, Small Voice, which then received a gold certification.
At a very young age she received a nomination from Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) which is the same to an Oscar nomination. She won three Best Child Performer from the Aliw Awards.
She performed as Kim in the musical Miss Saigon in 1989 which gave her a big break through. A Presidential Award of Merit from President Corazon Aquino was given to her in 1990.
Lea became the first Asian Eponine in the musical Les Miserables on Broadway. The singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, Fa Mulan in Mulan and Mulan II were another of her great achievements.

 Lea, Nicole and Robert.
Finally Lea found a person she would be with forever. On January 10, 2004, she and Robert Charles Chien married. May 16, 2006, she gave birth to a lovely daughter named Nicole Beverly.

A remarkable woman was she. Starting a busy life at an early age is both a good and bad thing. Good because you have the chance to exert and practice your talent. Bad for it lessens your chance to be a normal kid playing outside with others.
I have known many singers like her who  work as an adult at a young age. Most of them didn’t last a year in being popular. But it’s different with Lea, she was always known. With that majestic voice no one will ever dislike it.
Another good thing about Lea is she’s proud to be Pinoy. She always look back to where she started. Though she had many opportunities outside the country she still have shows, concerts and plays at our own.
Her success made our country known globally. Making ways for other talent discoveries.  Because of her attainment doors of opportunities opened for many Filipinos and she became our pride.
This occurrence also makes a new impression for Filipinos.Lea Salonga-Chien was able to amaze and  inspire people everywhere. She gave wonderful shows that surprises people since she was young. Her singing and acting encouraged others to strive and make use of their own gifts.  The world now know that we are not just simple people because we have abilities to show that can make a difference. This proves the quote “That some achieve great success is proof to all that others can achieve it as well. Because it’s not the mountain we conquer but ourselves."
